Draw 6 tiles. Get all 47.

Autotiling makes terrain painting effortless in Godot, Unity, Tiled or GameMaker — but someone still has to draw every combination tile. That someone used to be you.

AutoBlob composes the complete 47-tile blob set (or the classic 16-tile edge set) from a tiny 2×3 template, inside Aseprite, in one click.

How it works

  1. Draw six template tiles at any even size: interior, inner-corner cross, and the four corners of a 2×2 island.
  2. Run Sprite → AutoBlob: Generate Blob Tileset.
  3. A new sprite appears with every combination tile laid out on a grid — palette preserved, original untouched.

Features

  • blob47 — the full 8-neighbour blob set with inner corners, the format Godot terrains, Tiled and GameMaker autotiling expect
  • edge16 — the classic 4-neighbour edge set
  • JSON mask map export — a machine-readable mask → tile position table for engine importers, bit order documented
  • Works in RGB, grayscale and indexed colour modes
  • Non-destructive: output lands in a new sprite with the tile grid pre-set
  • Any even tile size (8×8, 16×16, 32×32, …)

Install

Double-click the .aseprite-extension file, or Edit → Preferences → Extensions → Add. Requires Aseprite 1.3+.

Support

Bug reports and feature requests are welcome in the comments. Made by SpriteWright — more pixel-art workflow tools coming.

Transparency: AutoBlob’s code is AI-assisted, disclosed via itch’s AI tagging. Everything it generates comes from your own artwork — the tool contains no image generation.
